PJI Conducts Working Group Session for its Coordinated Care Mechanism

AUGUST 3, 2022 – BENIN CITY, EDO STATE.  Further to our 2-day stakeholders’ Roundtable meeting to initiate the creation of a Coordinated Care Mechanism (CCM) by service providers for survivors of human trafficking in Edo State, Pathfinders organized the CCM first working group, meeting with eighteen (18) organizations in attendance, on August 3, 2022.

Discussions from the working group centered on building and securing the administrative structure (i.e., mission statement, outline expectations, roles and responsibilities, next steps and timeline), key terms for the administrative structure and CCM (i.e., eligibility criteria to be included in the CCM, conditions for removal and consequences) and finalize communication methods. The next working group meeting will hold on August 17, 2022, at which time we will discuss protocols and standards of care.

The creation of the CCM is a welcome development for service providers in Edo State who have long struggled with the frustration of providing services in a manner that is effective, efficient and timely for survivors.  We anticipate that even with the twenty-two (22) organizations signed up so far, we will realize better coordination and care for survivors.

We are grateful to all stakeholders who honoured our invitation to attend and to the French Embassy to Nigeria’s PISCCA program which makes The Justice Project possible.  To learn more, please email us at info@pathfindersji.org.
