Help Us Spread the Word!

9/10 women trafficked into the European sex industry are from Nigeria, with the overwhelming majority of them from the southern state of Edo.  Our research confirms that 1/3 young women between the ages of 18-25 from Edo has been recruited into sex trafficking, rendering Edo State (particularly its capital City, Benin) an internationally recognized sex trafficking hub.

The unfortunate reality is that in light of the toxic combination of poverty, minimal education and little to no economic opportunities, many young Nigerian women readily view prostitution as an alternative to poverty and as such, are volunteering to be trafficked. (Over 90% of our survivors volunteered.) Pathfinders offers free vocational skills training, start up business training and assistance as well as education scholarships for women seeking viable alternatives. For survivors seeking rehabilitation, free support and assistance are also available.
