On June 11, 2026, PJI organized a life skills training on income diversification for 177 Project Restore (Years 2 and 3) beneficiaries, combining business development sessions with hands-on practical workshops.
The training opened with a general session on business retention and sustainability, followed by presentations on business growth facilitated by three successful entrepreneurs from our local Oba Market. Participants actively engaged throughout the training, asking thoughtful questions and seeking practical guidance on building and sustaining successful businesses.
Following the plenary sessions, beneficiaries were placed into groups to participate in practical workshops led by trained facilitators, including two PJI survivor alumni whose businesses, established through PJI support, have continued to thrive. Beneficiaries chose workshops based on their interests in bridal hair making, liquid soap production or zobo (hibiscus) production. Each group received step-by-step, hands-on instruction to develop practical, income-generating skills.
To encourage immediate application of the knowledge gained, beneficiaries received starter packs relevant to their chosen skill area, enabling them to begin practicing and developing their new skills.
Overall, the training provided beneficiaries with valuable business knowledge, practical vocational skills, and the confidence to pursue diversified and sustainable sources of income.
Project Restore is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of State. The opinions, findings, and conclusions presented are PJI’s and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Department of State.
