Pathfinders Successfully Closes Out ‘The Freedom Project’

SEPTEMBER 30, 2023- BENIN CITY, EDO STATE. On September 28, 2023, we successfully wrapped up ‘The Freedom Project’ (TFP), a two year holistic program (October 2021- September 2023), which we marked with a monitoring and evaluation Closing Ceremony. What a joy it was for us to celebrate with our incredible beneficiaries who, despite the ongoing challenges that followed the global pandemic, found the strength to overcome. TFP, which was funded by the United States Department of State, provided direct services to over 140 women survivors of trafficking and women who were at-risk to becoming trafficked.

At our Closing Ceremony, several beneficiaries shared heartwarming testimonials of the import of the project on their lives, detailing how it had created new opportunities for them to better themselves, to make their dreams a reality and to achieve sustainable economic freedom. An Exhibition afforded the beneficiaries an opportunity to showcase their crafts, products and designs. They also participated in raffle draws and received parting gifts, lunch and a transportation stipend.

In addition to the State Department, we also wish to extend our sincere gratitude to our partner organisations, including International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Committee for the Support of Women’s Dignity (COSUDOW), Caritas, Genius Hub and Girls Power Initiative (GPI) who attended the Closing Ceremony and provided invaluable advice to the beneficiaries on the proper utilization of services provided throughout the project’s lifetime.

We are also grateful to our team and volunteers for diligently working throughout the Project lifetime to ensure it was a success.

From Pathfinders and all our courageous survivors who are free, we say thank you, United States Department of State!
