BENIN CITY, EDO STATE. On September 12th, 2024, in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Medical Team in Benin City, Pathfinders organized a successful medical outreach for thirty-five (35) ‘Project Restore’ beneficiaries. This program aimed to address both immediate health needs and the long-term well-being of survivors, offering a holistic approach to healing.
During the outreach, all beneficiaries received a thorough medical examination, including blood pressure checks, body mass index checks, blood sugar tests as well as oral and eye examinations in a safe, compassionate environment. A team of trained healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, ensured each survivor received personalized care tailored to their circumstances.
The outreach also served as a vital platform for education, empowering survivors with information about their health through seminars on fitness, exercise, food and nutrition, personal hygiene, sexual reproductive health and self-care. The beneficiaries received a transportation stipend and lunch following the outreach.
As we reflect on this successful initiative following Year 1 of the Project, we are filled with gratitude for our dedicated volunteers, generous donors and partner organizations with whom we have collaborated. Together, we have made meaningful impact, but the journey doesn’t end here. We remain committed to providing ongoing support and advocacy for survivors, ensuring that they have access to the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
‘Project Restore’ is funded by a grant from the United States Department of State, to which we are grateful. The opinions, findings, and conclusions presented are Pathfinders Justice Initiative’s and do not necessarily reflect the views of the United States Department of State.
