Pathfinders Conducts Food Drive for OHCHR Beneficiaries

BENIN CITY- EDO STATE. With support from the UN’s OHCHR, we launched Pathway to Freedom Part 4 (PTF 4) in January 2023 to provide humanitarian support, as well as provide economic empowerment, (vocational skills training, capital to start-up small businesses and financial literacy training), medical support and counseling services to beneficiaries who are survivors of sex trafficking. In alignment with the Project, we conducted a food drive in June, wherein all 30 beneficiaries each received the following: rice, beans, cooking spices, packets of milk and milo, 5kg bag of garri, pasta, palm oil, vegetable oil, detergent, bathing soap, sachet tomato paste, packets of melon seeds (ogbono seeds) and cray fish, sanitary pads and tissue, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant and diapers (for nursing mothers). We anticipate that the supplies will support each beneficiary and her family members for several months.

All project recipients were ecstatic and expressed sincere thanks, especially in light of how much the assistance will help them with some of their most urgent requirements in the post-COVID economy, which has been particularly hard on Nigeria’s inflation rate.

PTF4 is funded by the United Nations’ Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, to which we are grateful. The opinions, findings, and conclusions stated herein are those of Pathfinders Justice Initiative and do not necessarily reflect those of the OHCHR.
