BENIN CITY, EDO STATE- JULY 2023. With support from Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), Pathfinders’ beneficiaries of Project RISE received comprehensive training sessions in July 2023 across various fields.
On the 11th of July 2023, Project RISE beneficiaries were introduced to the creative world of Ankara crafts, where they learned how to craft exquisite items such as key holders, earrings, notebooks, and souvenir bags using vibrant Ankara material. The training was nothing short of exceptional, with an Ankara craft expert guiding the learners through the learning processes. To ensure that they could immediately put their newly acquired skills to use, each beneficiary was provided with a startup pack containing essential materials for practicals.
Thereafter, on the 19th of July, Project RISE also organized a comprehensive wellness and legal empowerment session for the beneficiaries, featuring two professionals, a doctor and a lawyer. The doctor trained the beneficiaries on fitness and exercise, food and nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, self-care and the wellness wheel. This interactive session aimed to equip the attendees with the tools and knowledge needed to lead healthier, happier lives.
Additionally, a dedicated lawyer provided insights into the legal aspects of business ownership, and discussions on critical topics such as gender-based violence and sexual assault were held. These invaluable lessons not only empower the women we serve but also ensure they have the necessary legal knowledge to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship.
Overall, feedback from the 45 beneficiaries in attendance revealed that it was an interactive and engaging session for them. The beneficiaries were further supported with transportation stipends and refreshments at the end of the training.
