FEB. 20, 2025- BENIN CITY, EDO STATE. On February 20, 2025, we kicked off our Adult Literacy Classes for women who, for various reasons, never had the opportunity to attend or complete their primary or secondary school education. Many of these women are survivors of trafficking or have faced difficult life circumstances that placed education far out of reach. Yet, despite the odds, they showed up, eager to learn, hopeful for change, and determined to create a better future.
Several students held a pencil for the first time in their lives. Others learned how to write their own names. But week by week, confidence grew. From sounding out words to forming simple sentences, even learning basic numeracy to managing small businesses, each lesson opened up a new world filled with pride, dignity, and endless opportunity.
We’re deeply proud of every woman on this journey and grateful to be part of such a powerful moment in their lives. These classes are more than lessons, they’re lifelines. And in just a few short weeks, we’ll gather to celebrate their graduation, honoring the courage and determination that brought them this far.
