PJI Conducts Food Drive for ‘Project Relief’ Beneficiaries

BENIN CITY, EDO STATE. On Thursday, 29th of May 2025, twenty (20) at-risk beneficiaries under Relief Project attended a life skills trainingThe training commenced with an in-depth session on critical thinking. The trainer did justice to the topic as the beneficiaries were equipped with essential life skills that enhanced their problem-solving abilities, decision-making, independence in everyday life, as well as their ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.

The beneficiaries responded positively to the training, noting that the session was “very interesting, engaging, and enjoyable.” The engaging atmosphere of the session fostered active participation and a strong sense of community among participants. Many beneficiaries shared that the critical thinking segment broadened their perspectives and introduced fresh approaches to navigating personal, business, and family matters.

After the critical training session, a brief but impactful session on personal hygiene was also conducted. The beneficiaries were educated on the importance of regular bathing and feminine hygiene, clean clothing and undergarments, menstrual hygiene management, healthy lifestyle habits for long-term wellbeing. This session emphasized the connection between hygiene, self-esteem, and overall health, especially as women.

As part of our continuous humanitarian support, we surprised the 20 beneficiaries with food items at the end of the training. Each beneficiary received a care package containing essential food items and basic supplies, including rice, beans, garri, melon seeds, crayfish, ogbolo seeds, vegetable oil, tomatoes paste, red oil, milo, milk, salt, seasoning packs, sanitary towels, bathing and washing soaps. To ease the burden of transporting their care packages, beneficiaries were given a transportation stipend. They received it with sincere gratitude and excitement, especially as it was unexpected amidst the current high cost of food items.
