Office of the Senate President of Nigeria Roundtable on Trafficking and Irregular Migration
All relevant CSOs and NGOs are invited to the Senate President of Nigeria’s Roundtable on Trafficking and Irregular Migration in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria on February 27-28, 2018 at the Protea Hotel. The Roundtable is being organized, moderated and facilitated by our Founder, R. Evon Idahosa, and will be a high level event attended by representatives of the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, by His Excellency, the Senate President of Nigeria, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, the Senate Leader, various Nigerian Senators and both state and federal Ministers and Ministries, including Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior and many others.  In addition, representatives of all related and relevant federal agencies, including NAPTIP, NDLEA, NIS, NOA, NCFRMI, NCS and NPF will be in attendance, in addition to Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and dignitaries from the Palace of the Oba of Benin, foreign embassies and other faith based and community leaders.  The goal of the Roundtable is for stakeholders, including survivors, to collectively identify the gaps and challenges on the issues of irregular migration and human trafficking, as well as proffer sustainable, long term solutions. For additional information, kindly email info@pathfindersji.org.

On The Road International Conference on Human Trafficking 
On January 29-30, 2018, Pathfinders’ R. Evon Benson-Idahosa will be a speaker at On The Road’s ‘Beyond the Midlands’ International Conference on Human Trafficking in Rome, Italy.  Tickets are going fast for the conference, which will address the current migrant crisis in Europe, as well as the Libyan slave trade.  Experts from all around the globe will be present to discuss challenges, setbacks and the way forward.  Ms. Benson-Idahosa will be presenting on Pathfinders’ prevention efforts and expanding on how Pathfinders is utilizing an interdisciplinary approach which incorporates both a human rights and an economic development methodology as part of the solution to sex trafficking.  She will speak on the interventions which Pathfinders has developed to identify potentially vulnerable young women, to provide viable alternatives to prostitution within Nigeria and to provide holistic, rights-based and survivor centered rehabilitation to repatriating survivors.  For more information, visit www.ontheroadonlus.it.

Modern Slavery Project (Africa Regional Workshop)
On July 4-6, 2017, Pathfinders’ R. Evon Benson-Idahosa will be a speaker at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s Modern Slavery Project (Africa Regional Workshop) in Entebbe, Uganda. African Parliamentarians from six regional countries (Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique and Kenya) will come together to combat modern slavery, with the goal of networking to support the development of modern slavery legislation.  The program will focus specifically on challenges and opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, which according to the Global Slavery Index, has an estimated 6.2 million victims of modern slavery and the world’s highest rate of child trafficking.  Parliamentarians from the U.K. who were involved in passing the 2015 Modern Slavery Act will also be attending the workshop.  For more information, please email us at info@pathfindersji.org.

Edo State Human Trafficking Workshop

On May 5th and 6th, 2017, Pathfinders, as consultants to the Edo State Government of Nigeria, will be organizing a 2-day workshop on human trafficking alongside the Edo State Strategic Planning Unit.  The workshop will bring together over a hundred stakeholders to the table, including NAPTIP Nigeria, UNODC, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Customs and Immigration Services, dozens of CSOs (including IOM, ILO, TY Danjuma Foundation, FIDA, NAME, CONGOS, WOTCLEF, etc.), traditional rulers and community leaders, Federal and State Ministries, destination embassies, religious institutions, members of the British High Commission in Nigeria, members of the Italian Parliament, Nigeria’s Special Advisor on Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, world renowned women’s activist, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin (Chairwoman), and others to collectively strategize and make recommendations to the government on how to tackle and eradicate human trafficking from Edo State.  For more information or to participate, email us at info@pathfindersji.org.


Idahosa Legacy 5K Walk
If you are in Abuja, Nigeria, please join Pathfinders on Saturday March 4, 2017 at Old Parade Ground in Area 10 for the first annual Idahosa Legacy 5k Walk to raise funds to support our work with survivors of rape and sex trafficking. 100% of the proceeds will be donated towards prevention and the rehabilitation of survivors. Time is 7am.  The Benin walk is on March 11, 2017 at 7am from Kada Plaza, Sapele Road. Please be sure to bring some water and comfortable walking shoes as you support this cause. #BringBackOurGirls 1,000 Days Commemoration
Unfortunately, the 1,000 days commemoration of the April 14, 2014 abduction of 276 school girls by Boko Haram is on January 8, 2017.  Please save the date to stand in solidarity with global advocates and organizers for #BringBackOurGirls in New York, New York (3:00pm) as we remind the world that 196 #ChibokGirls remain in the hands of the world’s deadliest terror group and have yet to be rescued.  Additional details will follow soon.

Pathfinders at CWFI Women’s Convention 2015/Pathfinders Launches in Cameroon!

Join Pathfinders’ R. We Remember Our #ChibokGirls

On April 14, 2015, hundreds will gather in New York City to commemorate the one year anniversary of the abduction of almost 300 girls that were stolen from their school in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria.  In collaboration with several other organizations, Pathfinders will host an interfaith and intergenerational vigil at the Church Center for the United Nations (777 United Nations Plaza, New York City) beginning at 6pm.  The vigil will be followed by a silent ‘red tape’ march to the Nigerian Embassy which is a block away.  Come join us, as we amplify the silenced voices of over 219 still missing Chibok Girls and remind the world that they have not been forgotten.

HEARTS OF HOPE

Via our “Hearts of Hope” Project, PJI is partnering with some local CGMI Churches in Nigeria  to bring hope and joy to some of the thousands of displaced children in Yola (Adamawa State, North East Nigeria) who were forced to leave their homes as they fled Boko Haram. Many are now orphans, as they join the 3.3 million other internally displaced people throughout Nigeria, some of which are living in IDP (internally displaced persons) camps and with host families in Yola.  Our goal is to provide at least 500 children with “Hearts of Hope” care packages for Christmas.  Please contribute, donate, give, extend yourself for someone you may never meet by clicking on our MAKE A DONATION button now.  100% of all proceeds received will directly fund the ongoing “Hearts of Hope” Project.

In partnership with Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Nigeria, PJI’s TruthTellers will be launching its #TakeMeOffMute total self defense campaign on October 22, 2014. The campaign, which is backed by prominent voices in Nigeria, including women’s rights activist, Dr. Joe Odumakin, provides a novel and holistic approach to self defense by empowering secondary and University female students with knowledge concerning how they can defend themselves mentally, physically, emotional and spiritually. RALLY: Act4Accountability and PJI will be co-organizing a protest on August 6, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt, Washington, D.C. where African Leaders are gathering for the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit to raise awareness on the still missing 276 girls that were abducted from their school in Chibok, Nigeria on April 14, 2014.  Time: 6:30pm.

RALLY: In conjunction with #BringBackOurGirls NYC, PJI will be organizing a rally in New York City at Ralph Bunche Park (across from the UN) on June 16, 2014, International Day of the African Child.  Time: 12pm.


 

THE MOTHERS CRY

Join PJI’s R.
