Pathfinders Conducts Food Drive and Life Skills Training for ‘Project Relief’ Beneficiaries

June 8, 2025

On May 29, 2025, we conducted a life skills training for twenty (20) of our ‘Project Relief’ beneficiaries. The training commenced with an in-depth session on critical thinking, during which participants were equipped with essential life skills to enhance their problem-solving abilities, decision-making, independence in everyday life, ability to analyse situations and to make informed decisions.

According to the beneficiaries, the session was “interesting, engaging, and enjoyable.” The engaging atmosphere fostered active participation and a strong sense of community. Many beneficiaries shared that the critical thinking segment broadened their perspectives and introduced fresh approaches to navigating personal, business, and family matters.

Following the critical training session, an impactful session on personal hygiene was conducted. The beneficiaries were educated on the importance of regular bathing and feminine hygiene, wearing clean clothing and undergarments, menstrual hygiene management and healthy lifestyle habits for long-term wellbeing. The session emphasized the connection between hygiene, self-esteem and overall health, especially as women.

Following the sessions, we surprised the beneficiaries with food items. Each beneficiary received a care package containing essential food items and basic supplies, including rice, beans, garri, melon seeds, crayfish, melon seeds, vegetable oil, tomatoes paste, red oil, milo, milk, salt, seasoning packs, sanitary towels, bathing and washing soaps. To ease the burden of transporting their care packages, beneficiaries were given a transportation stipend. They received it with sincere gratitude and excitement, especially as it was unexpected amidst the current rising costs of food items.
