Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, Pathfinders Survivors Continue to Flourish

BENIN CITY, EDO STATE. With support from Action Aid Nigeria, we have been able to continue to provide sustenance in the shadows, i.e., ongoing support to survivors of sex trafficking even amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Further to our Pathway to (Post COVID-19) Freedom Project, we are continuing to provide medical care, counseling, COVID-19 humanitarian relief and well as economic empowerment to survivors who were trafficked abroad and recently repatriated to Nigeria.

To date, survivors have opened small businesses that span the sale of wood to haircare and fashion design.  Prior to commencing these businesses, market surveys and budget reviews are conducted to ensure the viability of the proposed businesses and to maximize profits. Survivors also receive general accounting and financial literacy classes to ensure that they are ready to manage the businesses and to ensure sustainability.

We are grateful to Action Aid Nigeria for its support, which is made possible via its Women’s Voice and Leadership Project (with support from Global Affairs Canada).  Thank you!
