Pathfinders’ R. Evon Idahosa Conducts Training for Parliamentarians at UK Houses of Parliament

LONDON, ENGLAND.  On December 12, 2017, Pathfinders’ R. Evon Idahosa, Esq., a consultant for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, UK (in partnership with Her Majesty’s Government), facilitated an all day legislative drafting seminar for varying Parliamentarians (lawmakers) from Pakistan, Mozambique, Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Namibia on modern slavery.  The legislative drafting seminar, which was held in London from December 11-14th and is a part of CPA UK’s Modern Slavery Project, seeks to build on the work of the prior regional workshops which were conducted in April and July 2017.  The seminar, which was held at the Houses of Parliament, endeavoured to provide Parliamentarians and legislative drafters with necessary tools and the technical support to develop, amend and/or strengthen their current modern slavery/human trafficking legislation.  Other participants included Speakers of Parliament, Chairs and Members of Human Rights, Labour Rights and other relevant committees as well as directors and senior members of parliamentary and legislative counsels.  Following the seminar, Ms. Idahosa will continue to serve as a consultant to CPA UK and will provide expert advice, consultation and and support to the Parliamentarians from Nigeria.

Ms. Idahosa’s voice is also featured in Maria’s Story, a modern slavery animation utilized by CPA UK to educate on the dangers and implications of modern slavery/human trafficking.  Listen here.

While in the UK, Ms. Idahosa also granted an interview to Channel 4 News’ Krishnan Guru-Murthy.  The interview, which discussed the current migrant crisis in Libya and Pathfinders’ response to same, can be viewed here.
